Driver Arrested after Fatal Hit-and-Run Crash near Chapman Avenue

ORANGE, CA (July 28, 2022) – Saturday night, Jose Antonio Cisneros Segura was arrested after a DUI crash on North Feldner Road that claimed the life of Gary Tripe.

The incident occurred on July 23rd, at around 8:23 p.m., at the 100 block of North Feldner Road near Chapman Avenue.

According to the CHP, Segura was driving a 1966 GMC pickup truck southbound on North Feldner Road. He then lost control of the vehicle and the truck struck Tripe who was sitting on the sidewalk. Segura then drove off without rendering aid to the victim.

Emergency personnel arrived at the area shortly afterward and pronounced 64-year-old Tripe dead at the scene.

Police later discovered Segura intoxicated in the 200 block of North Donnybrook Street. Authorities arrested him on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter, felony hit and run, felony DUI causing death, and driving while intoxicated.
