Two Arrested after Pursuit Collision on Flosden Road

RICHMOND, CA (February 15, 2022) – Sunday morning, Gary Pilapil and Joel Lacsamana were arrested after a police chase on Central Avenue.

According to authorities, the pursuit started around 5:00 p.m., after police received reports about a stolen white Honda.

Shortly after, officers located the suspect vehicle heading south on Flosden Road.

When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver tried to ram into a patrol car. The driver of the vehicle, 32-year-old Pilapil of Vallejo, fled the area along surface streets of Vallejo and onto Interstate 80 toward the Carquinez Bridge.

Eventually, Pilapil lost control of the stolen car at the intersection of I-80 and Central Avenue in Richmond. The driver and his passenger, 40-year-old Lacsamana, of San Francisco then abandoned the Honda and tried running off.

Eventually, police were able to locate and arrested the suspects. As a result, police detained the two on suspicion of several felony and misdemeanor charges.

As per the latest update, authorities released Lacsamana shortly after his detention. Meanwhile, Pilapil remained in custody with his bail set at $50,000.
