The long arm of the law this week reached down into Mexico and grabbed 20-year-old purported gang member David Aranda Hernandez for his alleged 2008 killing of a 16-year-old innocent in North Hollywood.

Members of the Los Angeles Police Department and the FBI's Fugitive Task Force brought Hernandez to Los Angeles from Mexico Tuesday, police said. He's expected to be arraigned today for the alleged murder of Edward Satterstrom, who was shot twice in the back after being issued a gang challenged by the suspect, according to a District Attorney's office statement.

“Witnesses at the time of the incident said that the victim had been walking with an acquaintance in the area of Laurel Canyon Boulevard and Roscoe Boulevard when he was confronted by the suspect,” reads an LAPD statement. “After a brief conversation, the suspect produced a handgun and fired several rounds at the victim striking him in the upper torso.”

The victim, a Sun Valley resident, was a John Francis Polytechnic High School football player. The slaying happened on Aug. 2, 2008.

If convicted Hernandez could face 50 years behind bars. He's being held in lieu of $2 million bail.
