City Attorney Carmen Trutanich, with the help of District Attorney Steve Cooley, announced a city gang injunction in Skid Row Wednesday. The filing by the City Attorney's Gang Division prohibits about 80 gang members from throughout the county from coming to Skid Row to sell drugs.

“Gang members from different gangs are congregating in Skid Row to exploit a vulnerable population who are in this area to obtain valuable social services,'' Cooley said.

The injunction covers Third Street to the north, Ninth Street to the south, Broadway to the west and Central Avenue to the east. The injunction will be monitored by both City and District Attorney as well as Los Angeles police, the county Department of Probation and Skid Row social-service organizations.
