17-Year-Old Dead and One Other Injured in a Riverside Street Racing Crash

RIVERSIDE, CA (August 18, 2021) – 17-year-old Gabriela Martinez was killed Sunday night in a suspected street racing event.

The fatal crash took place along Magnolia Avenue near Jones Avenue on Sunday night, August 15.

According to the Riverside Police Department a 2011 Chevrolet Camaro with an unknown driver was racing with a 2003 Ford Mustang, driven by Gabriela Martinez.

For unknown reasons the Camaro turned in front Martinez, causing her to loose control and crash the vehicle into a nearby tree.

Meanwhile, the Camaro driver stopped briefly before fleeing the scene moments later.

As a result, both the driver and her one passenger were transported to a local hospital.  Unfortunately, Gabriela Martinez succumbed to her injuries.

Furthermore, the passenger of the Mustang sustained moderate injuries and is expected to survive.

Authorities ask anyone in possession of information regarding the crash to contact the Riverside Police Department at 951-345-2007.

However, an active investigation is currently underway.
