54-Year-Old Fresno Man Pronounced Dead after Bicycle Accident near Van Ness Avenue

FRESNO, CA (June 10, 2024)Gabriel Ortega died Sunday afternoon, in a bicycle crash on Stanislaus Street and Van Ness Avenue.

The incident occurred at approximately 1:15 p.m.

According to reports, a sedan driver struck a bicyclist in the area. The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Responding medical personnel transported the bicyclist to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The Fresno County Coroner’s Office identified the deceased as 54-year-old Gabriel Ortega of Fresno.

Emergency crews temporarily closed the surrounding area for cleanup and preliminary duties. Intoxication is not suspected to be a factor in the fatal crash.
