Meadowbrook Multi-Vehicle Crash Leaves One Casualty

MEADOWBROOK, CA (May 4, 2021) – Tuesday afternoon, Gabriel Nieto Ruiz passed away following a multi-vehicle crash on Highway 74.

The incident occurred around 4:00 p.m. Officers responded to the scene near Ethanac Road, just east of Lake Elsinore.

According to California Highway Patrol, an eastbound Toyota Camry tried to avoid a Mercedes-Benz pulling out of a parking lot, turning west on 74.

Unfortunately, the Toyota struck the Mercedes and collided head-on with a westbound Honda Civic.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene and pronounced the Honda driver dead at the scene.

The Riverside County Coroner’s Office identified the Honda driver to be 26-year-old Fallbrook resident, Gabriel Nieto Ruiz.

Meanwhile, the 19-year-old Toyota driver, identified as Eduardo Avila sustained a broken right leg. Responders took him to a hospital immediately after.

The Mercedes-Benz driver, a 28-year-old Moreno Valley resident, remained unharmed.

At this time, police are encouraging witnesses in the crash to contact California Highway Patrol at 951-506-2000.
