It’s not every day that a restaurant turns 50. This August, celebrate Chao Krung Thai Restaurant’s 50th Anniversary celebration all month long with 50 percent off their famous Pad Thai. Owners Boon and Supa Kuntee opened Chao Krung in 1969 and were one of the first restaurants to bring authentic Thai cuisine to the West coast. Now, their daughters Amanda Kuntee and Katy Noochlaor run the restaurant and continue their family legacy with recipes from their grandmother, who cooked for the King of Thailand. Talk about some secret family deliciousness. Congrats Chao Krung!

Stu and the Kids returns for their 6th Annual Flavors of Asia Food and Wine Festival this upcoming Sunday with numerous noteworthy chefs, restaurants and food artisans including Neal Fraser (Vibiana and Redbird), Walter and Margarita Manzke (République) Hugo Bolanos (Wolfgang Puck at Hotel Bel-Air), Eric Bost (Auburn) Jason Neroni ( The Rose Venice), and Mei Lin (Nightshade), to name a few. Stu aka Stuart Skversky is the founder of Stu and The Kids, which provides scholarships for poor and orphaned Hill Tribe children to continue their education in Chiang Mai, Thailand. After leaving his culinary career in L.A. and traveling all over Thailand, Stu found a passion for teaching kids how to cook and growing their education and now supports 36 kids. This Flavors of Asia Food fest is a beautiful way to celebrate Thai and Asian-inspried dishes and beverages with 100 percent of the proceeds going toward Stu and the Kids Foundation.

Melrose Rooftop Theater /EP & LP

If you haven’t already heard, Melrose Rooftop Theatre is back for their summer flicks on the beautiful roof of E.P. & L.P in West Hollywood. Screenings begin at sundown, with most films running from 8:30-10:30 p.m. The MRT is an upgraded and new age version of your old drive-in, but complete with wireless technology so guests can maximize their experience. The outdoor theatre also has tons of movie snacks and a cinema cocktail program. What better way to enjoy summer amiright?
