With the dance club scene a veritable disco inferno lately, Nightranger thinks it's only a matter of time til everyone's donning rollerskates like they did back in the '70's. (Read our report about rink ragers that went down in LA last week here). Skating parties' return to the pop culture consciousness has been building up speed lately, but in LA, it's practically old news. Below, some upcoming events that'll make you bounce, rock, and definitely skate. But first, a li'l gem to get you inspired.

SPACE IS THE PLACE- The monthly skate party from DJ Riley More has been goin off at World on Wheels for 8 years now (last month was its anniversary party) and it just so happens to be pumpin' up the jams this Sat., June 27. Expect the danciest disco, the funkiest old school and the best retro rap and roll.www.myspace.com/spacerollerdisco

WUMP SKATE- This goth gathering on wheels, also at W.O.W., is always dark garb-wise but never vibe-wise. Monthly themes range from “Cyber” to “Zombie” nights, with dramatic sounds to match. The next one's slated for July 14. Check out www.wumpskate.com for more info.

DERBY DOLLS- For those who prefer to watch rather than roll and dig a rockin' soundtrack over a disco one, it's all about the Derby Dolls. The roller derby dames got a bout this Saturday night, and there's even an all ages afternoon game, with “The Junior Derby Dolls” playing during halftime, and live rock from local teenyboppers Kitten.

Saturday, June 27, 2009 at The Doll Factory 1910 Temple St., L.A., CA 90026

Game 1: Baby Doll Brawl featuring skaters who have been training and are preparing for try-outs to be on an official Derby Dolls team. Doors: 3pm, ALL-AGES EVENT

Game 2: L.A. Derby Dolls v. Angel City Derby Girls team. Doors: 6pm, 21+ ONLY
