From Saweetie to Kiss: Also this week

IV4 told us that: “I’ve always found ways to stay dedicated. My mother definitely supported that, working three jobs, making sure I could take pianist lessons and dance lessons every now and then. I moved myself out to New York, with a few hundred dollars in my pocket, and I started recording myself. Then I found a team in L.A. I guess the moment I realized it was all really happening is when I moved myself to New York and then L.A., and then I’m out here talking to the Weeknd, who reached out to me first to say that he loves my music and wants to sign me.”

“I believe I started Naked Voodoo back in 2020, but it wasn’t really a cultivated idea,” she added. “I was making voodoo dolls for myself, and I posted one. I was making them for friends and people started wanting them more and more. COVID hit, and I sunk into that business. I have to make money somewhere else – I can’t be out touring. And it kind of took off.”

In “Not Another DJ,” ARMNHMR told us that, “The pandemic really opened the door for many new listeners especially with all the live-streams going on,” they say. “Although the pandemic was and is terrible, it really broadened the reach for electronic dance music. As far as 2022 and beyond, we think dance music will grow bigger than ever before. It’s a community fueled on peace, love, unity and respect.”
