Ever chock full o' surprises, organizers of L.A.'s annual Sunset Junction festival announced they've partnered with Silverlake landmark El Cid to host a new sixth stage at its 2011 festival.

The news comes on the heels of the recently-announced Hotel Cafe stage at the fest and an awesomely bizarre throwback of a lineup featuring Butthole Surfers, Melvins, Lil Jon and–yep–Hanson. Mmmbop!

Called “Locals Only,” the new El Cid stage is located within the century-old restaurant-cum-Flamenco-lounge and will feature a two-day lineup of some of L.A.'s freshest sounds, including Oh Darling!, Leftover Cuties and David and Devine.

“The festival has always been about community and celebrating our unique legacy and diversity,” said festival founder/organizer Michael McKinley. “Partnering with El Cid and supporting the local independent music scene completes us for 2011.”

The partnership is also kicking off a “Win A Slot at Sunset Junction” competition, which is more or less exactly what it sounds like. Details on entering can be found here.

The music festival and street fair, now in its 31st year, will be held Saturday, Aug. 27 and Sunday, Aug. 28. More artists are expected to be added to the lineup, with the latest including Lil Jon (DJ set), Dum Dum Girls and Rooney. Previously-announced heavy hitters include Ozomatli, Butch Walker And The Black Widows, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah and a DJ set from the ever-salacious Peaches. Another major headliner is expected to be added as well.

Tickets are on sale now. For more info, check out sunsetjunction.org.
