The theme for this year's madcap Muse Costume Ball at LACMA is “heroes and villains” — this of course could mean anything from Batman and the Joker to Van Gogh and Gauguin to Michael Govan and…Michael Govan. The subtitle of the 1000-strong party is, somewhat more precisely, “The Battle for Good in India's Comics,” so don't be surprised if people aren't offended that you're dressed as a Union Carbide accountant. Do, however, act surprised at the plethora of DJs, the soulful psychedelic rock stylings of Voxhaul Broadcast, the death-defying laser/Tesla coil wizardry of local sorcerers Mindshare Labs, “traveling audiovisual production collective” Museum of Traffic lacing your eye candy with angel dust, the ever-popular costume contest and the even more popular open bar that stars Dos Equis (beer), Malibu Family Wine (red), Honest Tea (diuretic) and Pernod (diet absinthe).
