In the 1991 film L.A. Story, spring means it's “open season on the L.A. freeway!“

Maybe someone finally got the memo this year, because a gunman has been on the loose in the South Bay, with a pedestrian and four vehicles hit in the last two weeks, authorities say.

The woman who was walking about 2:15 a.m. on April 18 on Main Street near 213th Street in Carson was okay because …

… so far the shooter is using bird-shot pellets the size of ball bearings, cops say: She was hit in an arm and survived.

The weapon, however, is deadly enough: Law enforcement officials believe it's a shotgun.

And they think the same idiot is responsible for all five attacks. The others, according to cops, include these:

-A woman was driving south on Normandie Avenue near Torrance Boulevard in Harbor Gateway South when her car was shot about 8:30 p.m. on April 23.

-The next day shots were fired on the 110 freeway near the Carson Street exit just blocks away from the last attack. The California Highway Patrol says that shooting happened at 8 p.m.

-Then, last Thursday, a car driven by a man was hit by pellets about 2:30 p.m. That one happened at Figueroa Street near Lomita Boulevard.

-Same day, 15 minutes later, gunfire broke out along the 110 freeway near Torrance Boulevard.
