Freebirds, known for its 7-pound Super Monster burrito, will open its second L.A.-area location on May 20th. Unlike the first one, which opened back in January near USC and drew heavily on the university's students for its customer base, the newest Freebirds is going into The Shoppes at Marina Del Rey. Freebirds is known for its burritos, custom-made from an array of 40 ingredients. In the days leading up to the official opening, Freebirds will a host a couple of giveaways.

On Wednesday, May 18th: Freebirds will partner with Surfrider Foundation from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. and again at 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. The first 300 guests during each time slot will enjoy free food and drinks in exchange for a $5 donation to the Surfrider Foundation.

On Thursday, May 19th: Freebirds will partner with Chrysalis from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. The first 300 guests will enjoy free food and drinks in exchange for a $5 donation to the Chrysalis organization, which supports low income individuals and homelessness.

Originally opened under the name Isla Vista in Santa Barbara, the founders sold the rights to Tavistock Restaurants, who changed the name to Freebirds and opened 44 outposts in Texas. (The Isla Vista location, a staple for hungry UCSB students, is still open 24-hours-a-day.)
