On Friday, June 11, the Irvine-based Taco Bell corporation announced a new opportunity for vaccinated Taco Bell fans to receive a free Doritos Locos Taco on Tuesday, June 15. In a press release, the taco-giant revealed it would be offering a free seasoned beef Nacho Cheese Doritos Locos Taco to individuals who can show proof of receiving both doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. 

As part of California’s Vax for the Win vaccine incentive program, Taco Bell will redeem one free taco on June 15. In order to claim your taco, vaccinated individuals can visit participating restaurants on Tuesday, June 15 and simply show their COVID-19 vaccination card in exchange for a free taco. 

Mark King, CEO of Taco Bell Corp., spoke on the announcement in Friday’s press release, adding that this opportunity was a great way to give back to the community, after more than a year of uncertainty surrounding the pandemic. King added that he hopes this announcement will reward those who have made the decision to get the vaccine, while encouraging others to do so. 

“It’s been a tough year, and we are all ready to put COVID-19 behind us,” said Mark King, CEO of Taco Bell Corp. “We are thrilled to do our part and give back to our home state with something everyone knows and loves to celebrate those who have made the decision to get vaccinated.”

As of Thursday, June 10, The California Department Of Public Health reported that nearly 20 million Californians had received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. CDPH reported that statewide 18,542,848 people are now fully vaccinated, as of June 11. 

As of June 10, Los Angeles County Department of Public Health had administered 10,000,208 total doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, according to CDPH. 

On Friday, June 11, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health reported 198 new COVID-19 cases, with five new COVID-19 related deaths. Accumulatively, Los Angeles has recorded 1,245,949 COVID-19 cases, including 24,416 deaths
