66-Year-Old Man Dies after Vehicle vs Pedestrian Crash near Kolb Road

TUCSON, AZ (February 17, 2023) – Saturday night, police responded to a crash that claimed the life of Frederick Sherrill Ybarra. The incident happened at about 9:00 p.m., February 11th, near East 22nd Street and Kolb Road. According to the Tucson Fire Department, 66-year-old Ybarra was crossing South Kolb Road when he got struck by a truck traveling southbound. Furthermore, fire department personnel arrived at the scene and transported Ybarra to St. Joseph’s Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Meanwhile, the truck that hit him fled the scene before authorities arrive. Police have stated that Ybarra crossing mid-block may be the factor in the incident. At this time, there was no lead about the whereabouts of the driver. Further investigations are still underway and anyone with information is encouraged to contact Tucson detectives.
