74-Year-Old Driver Dead after Wrong-Way Crash near Eureka

ELKO, NV (August 22, 2022) – Sunday, 74-year-old Francis Fields was pronounced dead following a head-on accident on Highway 50.

According to reports, the driver of a blue Mazda CX-5 was heading west and crossed into oncoming lanes in attempt to pass a semi-truck. As a result, the Mazda collided head-on with an eastbound gold Ford Fusion.

The impact pushed the Mazda to the right, where it overturned before coming to rest. Meanwhile, the Ford was pushed to the left off the road.

Medics arrived and pronounced the Ford driver, 74-year-old Fields, of Ely dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, the Mazda driver suffered minor injuries while their passenger remained unharmed. Although, authorities have not yet released their name or place of residency.

Emergency crews closed off the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties. Once available, further details will be provided.
