The second outpost of Fraîche will open this Wednesday for dinner, in the former Riva space in Santa Monica. The website goes up today for reservations. If this game of musical bar chairs seems somewhat confusing, you're not alone. But at least you know where you'll be eating your dinner this Wednesday: until last Thursday, Fraîche Management Group wasn't even disclosing the whereabouts of the new restaurant. In hindsight it seems pretty obvious. If you want to keep a new restaurant under wraps until 3 days before it opens–initially the location was to be disclosed today–put it in the exact same spot as your old restaurant. A new cocktail menu, a handful of new dishes to jazz up what is essentially a duplicate menu from the original Fraîche in Culver City. Change the lettering on the door. Presto.

Chefs Elderoy Arendse and Sydney Hunter III will be behind the stoves in chef-owner Jason Travi's absence; pastry chef John Park–who took over from Miho Travi–will be running the pastry kitchen. Just when the Travis will return from their sabbatical (to use Fraîche Management Group president Amir Ohebsion's term), is anyone's guess.

Fraiche: 312 Wilshire Blvd., Santa Monica, (310) 451-7482.
