It was a happy new year for football fans and other viewers as Fox broadcasting and Time-Warner cable came to a deal after Fox threatened to pull its content from the broadband provider.

The announcement late Friday came after Fox extended negotiations and shelved its plans to go dark on Time-Warner starting New Year's Day. The impasse brought heat from Washington, but in the end the two sides were apparently able to work out a deal somewhere in between the $1 per subscriber per month Fox wanted from Time-Warner for its content and the up to .30 cents the cable company was offering.
