Michael Keener Injured in Box Truck Crash near State Route 271

GARBERVILLE, CA (August 22, 2022) – Tuesday, Sherrie Keener was arrested after a DUI crash on Highway 101 that left her, Michael Keener, and two children injured.

The incident happened on August 9th, at around 3:05 p.m. along southbound Highway 101, north of State Route 271.

According to the California Highway Patrol, Sherrie Keener was driving southbound in a 2016 Chevrolet pickup truck, when the pickup truck veered off the edge of the highway. Then, the pickup truck struck the left side of a 2019 Hino Box Truck. Both vehicles came to a stop off the shoulder of Highway 101.

First responders arrived at the site of the crash shortly after. They rushed Sherrie Keener and two girls, that were passengers in the Chevrolet, to St. Joseph Hospital for treatment of significant injuries. Michael Keener, who was also riding in the pickup truck, sustained minor injuries, and was treated at the scene. Meanwhile, the driver of the box truck, Phoebe Paiva, escaped the accident unharmed.

Afterward, police arrested Sherrie Keener and charged her with felony DUI resulting in injuries to another person.
