Two-Vehicle Collision on Koster Road Left Former Tracy Mayor Dead

VERNALIS, CA (March 29, 2022) – Thursday afternoon, a vehicle crash on Highway 132 left Former Mayor Michael Maciel dead, police said.

The accident occurred at about 3:40 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 132 and Koster Road on March 17th.

Furthermore, according to the California Highway Patrol, Fernando Duran Ortiz was driving a 2006 GMC Yukon east when for unknown reasons hits a 2014 Ford Focus driven by Nicholas Camper.

First responders located and airlifted one passenger from the Ford to a nearby hospital, where later he died of his injuries.

Officials confirmed that former Mayor Michael Maciel was the passenger in the Ford Focus.

Meanwhile medics took Camper to a local hospital for treatment of unspecified injuries.

On the other hand, Ortiz sustained minor injuries from the crash, it is unknown if he was hospitalized or not.

At this time, officials have no information of what caused the collision, however, an active investigation is ongoing.
