Andrew Pogany, former editor-in-chief of L.A.-based Flaunt Magazine has launched a music-focused publishing imprint called Echo Park Books.

The first release from the limited-run printer is Art Time Punks: Five Years of Part Time Punks, which compiles all of the fliers that the venerable East Side club has Xeroxed up since its inception.

Part Time Punks promoter Michael Stock provides a colorful intro to his 250-plus handmade posters — Pogany, who spoke with West Coast Sound, calls it “analog art,” made by physical cut-and-paste.

The 98-page, soft-cover book is black and white in keeping with the source material, measures 8 by 8 inches, comes in a run of 250 and costs $14.

Pogany promises much more in the near future, and is currently working out the details of a release with Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes. Read more after the jump.

Pogany says he's working on “walking the boundary between book publishing and music merchandising,” which means more collaborations with music-makers to come.

He has some lit-friendly releases in the works as well, including handmade chapbooks of stories from established authors like Barry Graham, Mike Sager and Larry Fondation.

Art Time Punks is currently available through the Echo Park Books and PTP sites, and should be in Amoeba soon.

Fanzines and band releases will be sold through the usual channels and on tour as well.
