You might be excited by Los Angeles' bid to host the 2024 Olympics, but there's another competition coming to town, and 420 is its name.

The 420 Games next month will be centered around a 4.20 mile race that will go from Santa Monica Pier to Venice and back, organizers said. After two years at San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park, it'll debut its first L.A. route March 26, according to an announcement.

“The 420 Games were established to show that cannabis users are not lazy, unmotivated or 'stoners,'” the event's website explains. The race aims to “destigmatize the millions who use cannabis in a healthy and responsible lifestyle.”

The L.A. debut will be part of a four-state, six-city tour for the games, organizers said. Denver, Seattle, Portland, Oregon, and Boulder, Colorado, are future sites, they said.

“Our attendance has doubled from the first event to the second,” Jim McAlpine, the event's lead organizer, said. “We expect thousands of people to come run or walk for cannabis respect on March 26 in L.A. There is a passion and vibe of camaraderie at these events that is very inspiring to see.”

The national tour will include the trademark race as well as mountain bike and stand-up paddleboard competitions, organizers said.

Sponsor Eaze has $500 in medical marijuana for the first-place runner, $250 for second place and $100 for third place, according to the announcement.

And if 420 is not your thing, “All competitors will be treated to two hours of beer tasting from event sponsor Lagunitas Brewing Company,” it said.
