Wish you could poke one of your relatives in the eyes? Soytainly! Better yet, a pie to the face? Maybe a better way to get out your post–turkey dinner family aggression is with Hollywood's three greatest numbskulls at the annual Three Stooges Big Screen Event! For 15 years the Alex Film Society has been getting audiences to nyuck, nyuck at the high jinks of Larry, Moe and Curly (you, too, Shemp), which usually involves a case of mistaken identity. This year's lineup includes 1936's Movie Maniacs (they pretend to be studio executives); and 1935's Pop Goes the Easel (they pretend to be artists); 1941's An Ache in Every Stake (they pretend to be chefs); 1951's Merry Mavericks (they pretend to be outlaws); and 1934's Three Little Pigskins (they pretend to be football players with a blond and then-unknown Lucille Ball). Also on hand for you ignoramuses is Three Stooges expert and author Jim Pauley, who'll discusses his upcoming book, The Three Stooges: Hollywood Filming Locations. While the Three Stooges shot most of their nearly 200 shorts for Columbia Pictures between 1934 to 1958 in a studio, Pauley's book — which features archival photographs and interviews with family members — maps out the areas in and around Hollywood where some of the episodes were also filmed, including Silver Lake and along Larchmont Boulevard. Alex Theater, 216 N. Brand Blvd., Glendale; Sat., Nov. 24, 8 p.m.; $15. (818) 243-2539, alextheatre.org.

Sat., Nov. 24, 2 & 8 p.m., 2012
