Food trucks have been around long enough now that food truck festivals seem almost as common as the trucks themselves. Nothing particularly wrong with that, so why not make this the summer of food truck festivals. There's no time like the present to kick it off, since this Saturday the fabulous (and free) Food Truck Derby hits Siren Studios.

Does this mean the trucks are going to be squaring off soapbox style, zooming down the streets of L.A. in a drag race? We'd hoped, but no. However, the important thing to know about this festival is that everything is free. There will be free food from Great Balls on Tires, Takosher, Lardon, The Hungry Nomad, Naan Stop, as well as a few more unannounced trucks, as well as an open bar. 'Nuff said. There will also be performances by Saint Motel, Hanni El Khatib, Tijuana Panthers, Rachel Goodrich as well as DJ sets by Chris Douridas, Valida and Matt Goldman.

The event runs from 3 to 7 p.m. Free (of course) admission for you and a guest can be guaranteed by RSVPing here.
