Food blogging, as many of our readers and fellow bloggers know, is an activity where you can express reactions to the latest restaurant you attended, or simply share your penchant for baking chocolate chip banana bread pudding as a peace offering to your ticked-off husband. In recognition of these online scribes and photographers, Saveur Magazine created its 1st Annual Food Blog Awards to recognize some of the most captivating food blogs on the internet.

With the winners announced today, food blog categories included, “Best Baking and Desserts Blog,” (won by David Lebovitz), “Best Wine Blog,” “Most Innovative Video Content,” and “Best Regional Cuisine.” Smitten Kitchen, a food blogger who cooks out of her art-deco style 42-square-foot kitchen in New York, won in two categories: “Best Food Photography,” and “Best Individual Post.” “Best Special Interest Blog” went to La Tartine Gourmande, a cooking and eating obsessed French expatriate living in Boston. For those more enamored of a tutorial on how to cook a fluffy frosting topped vegan, gluten-free cake, than checking up on, say, our current quake (you know who you are), your passion is now even more validated.
