WHAT: Foo Fighters' secret show

WHERE: Spaceland (aka The Satellite)

WHEN: 2/8/2011

The universe came full circle last night when The Foo Fighters, one of the first bands to ever perform at Spaceland back in 1995, performed on the eve of its closing, before the venue reopens as Satellite.

Ron Jeremy arriving with date Kathy Griffin. Tony Kanal in the crowd, sharing photos of his newborn with Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale. Christopher Charles Mintz-Plasse (better known as Superbad's “McLovin”) getting the stink eye from one of the bartenders. Sounds the antics one would expect to see at a crazy Hollywood Hills party, not a Foo Fighters show:

Awaiting word from the band via twitter, hundreds of fans frantically scrurried to The Echoplex, where the Foo's notorious white limousine was parked, in order to obtain wristbands for last night's show.

Taylor Hawkins perused the bar area with bandmates Chris Shiflett and Dave Grohl while Scream performed.

Fellow D.C.-bred frontman Peter Stahl immersed himself into the pit after telling the audience they were the best secret show crowd yet. “It's just the energy in the room. I'm loving it tonight!” Stahl said.

Stahl ended the set by skillfully wrapping his mic cord over an air duct and sang while dramatically clinging to the mic that swayed overhead.

“Welcome to the SECRET, secret show!” Grohl announced before performing The Foo Fighters new album to 250 lucky fans and celebrity attendees.

It didn't take long before the tiny venue turned into a sauna. As soon as The Foo Fighters started the intro to “All My Life,” fans began crowdsurfing. The crowd's energy didn't wane until well into the encores.

After the show, lingering fans were able to meet bandmembers. Chris Shiflett, who was eager to get home, stopped to chat with fans and autograph a skateboard and a Christmas card (yes, you read that correctly).

Pat Smear posed for photographs. Nate Mendel, Taylor Hawkins and Dave Grohl remained at the bar after the show to share a drink with friends and fans.

If you missed out on this show, don't worry–there is plenty more Foo to come!!
