CNN recently interviewed Flea about his wonderful nonprofit The Silverlake Conservatory.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers' bassist gives a moving testimonial to the saving power of music education for children and teens. “I was heading for a disaster, I was on drugs, I was robbing people's houses, I was wild in the streets,” Flea says of the time before he was shown he could play music at legendary Fairfax High School.

But then, asked by the reporter if the Conservatory he helped found gets any government stimulus money, Flea addresses Barack Obama with a direct plea for help.

Mr Obama: Can you please give Flea your pennies so the children can have a vacant former laundromat in Silverlake?
