Uncool , a new smashburger concept from Josh Pourgol and his Blurred Limes Hospitality Co. team (Tu Madre, Bardonna, Counterpart Vegan) opened for dine-in and takeout this week in Larchmont Village in a breezy, open minimalistic warehouse-inspired indoor/outdoor space. The idea is to pair unexpected ingredients with a classic thin-pressed beef patty  designed to make you “lose your cool.”

Cheese is given special attention as a fundamental component on each sandwich. The Uncool Burger is layered with American cheese, a parmesan-mozzarella cheese crisp, onion jam, house pickles and the signature Uncool sauce on a potato bun. The Rolls Royce Burger is a gooey combination of raclette, kewpie truffle mayo, wild arugula, fennel salad and onion jam. All house patties come in single or double versions, as a rice bowl or a salad from  a choice of grass fed beef,  short rib or vegan Impossible smashburger.

Other toppings include house-made maple-glazed pastrami bacon, egg and hash browns. There’s also a variety of buttermilk fried chicken sandwiches and vegan options, as well as a breakfast burrito stuffed with soft scrambled eggs, cheese crisp, crispy rosemary hash browns and yuzu chipotle aioli (breakfast is served all day). The vegan breakfast sandwich comes with a plant-based spiced sausage, dairy-free smoked gouda, vegan Uncool sauce, hash browns, and a drizzle of maple syrup. All sauces like the chimichurri ranch, truffle island and yuzu chipotle aioli are made in-house.

Cement-painted walls line the long rectangular design by Nic Albritton, with an airy patio in the back and open wall in the front that lend themselves to easy physical distancing and a very family-friendly space.

Their creamy vegan Oreo shake is a must, and if you order the Feel Good Combo, which  includes a choice of burger, drink, fries, and holographic sticker, $1 from every meal is donated to STOMP Out Bullying. The nonprofit organization promotes inclusion and equality through educational programs against racism, LGBTQ discrimination and hatred online, in school and in communities across the country. The organization also provides help for those in need and at risk of suicide.
