Choose from one of three film festivals to attend this weekend. First, the Beyond Fest continues through the end of the month, bringing the “best in horror, sci-fi, fantasy and badass cinema.” At 7:30 p.m. at the Egyptian Theatre, Richard Donner's 1976 film The Omen gets a rare screening in an archival 35mm print. Donner will be at the event post-screening for a discussion, moderated by Geoff Boucher, to talk about the film that showcased just how creepy little boys can be. Beyond Fest also will be screening films at the Aero. Check americancinemathequecalendar.com for the schedule and to buy tickets.

Meanwhile, the L.A. Latino International Film Festival will be screening a variety of features, documentaries and shorts. First up is The Graduates, a documentary on education today, told through the stories of six Latino and Latina students from all over the United States. The doc starts at 11 a.m. at the Chinese 6 Theaters. A VIP festival pass is $450; individual tickets are $13. You can find the rest of the screenings at latinofilm.org.

Then there's the ArcLight Cinemas Documentary Festival through Oct. 13 at the ArcLight Hollywood. Friday at 1:45 p.m. marks the L.A. premiere of Flying Paper, about a Palestinian youth who tries to beat the Guinness World Record for flying the most kites. Information at arclightcinemas.com.

Wednesday, Oct. 16

Since Halloween is not that far off, Coming Back Cinema brings the frightful Poltergeist at 9:40 p.m., screening at Los Feliz 3. Tobe Hooper's original horror story will scare the bejeezus out of you. Beware of evil ghosts. Hide your daughters.

Thursday, Oct. 17

It's all about women power in La Femme Film Festival this weekend through Sunday. Here's to the ladies behind the camera, including directors, producers and writers. Check-in starts at 9 a.m. at Regal Theatre Stadium 14 L.A. LIVE followed by blocks of shorts and documentaries, including The Gun, the Cake & the Butterfly, a docudrama about Amanda Eliasch, a woman of many talents: poet, writer, artist, fashion editor and socialite. VIP all-access pass is only $150, which grants entrance to all films, parties and seminars. You can buy tickets at lafemme.org.

Note: The Lethal Ladies of Horror fest, which was originally mentioned in this post, has been canceled.
