Pedestrian Accident on Lindero Avenue Kills 84-Year-Old Fikre Workneh

LONG BEACH, CA (October 27, 2021) – A pedestrian crash on East Ocean Boulevard claimed the life of Fikre Workneh Thursday morning.

According to the authorities, the crash took place at the intersection of East Ocean Boulevard and Lindero Avenue. Dispatchers responded to the area shortly after.

Per reports, a 2021 Acura ILX hit Workneh while they were crossing at the intersection. In addition, the traffic light was green for the Acura and Workneh was not inside a marked crosswalk.

The car’s driver, a Long Beach resident, remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. At this time, it is not believed that speed, distraction, or drunk driving were factors in the accident.

However, an active investigation to determine further details is still currently underway.
