Fight Club is so passe; these days, even word lovers hold clandestine get-togethers for the sake of a good (literary) fight. Celebrating a year going strong, Write Club Los Angeles tonight hosts another unique showdown where brave souls put their writing chops to the test. Two writers get two different ideas thrown at them and seven minutes to read the resulting piece. The audience then voices its approval or disapproval — making this group as loud as a gathering of sports fanatics. Expect a crowd of writers, musicians, television personalities and more. This match will feature the wits of comedian Mike O'Connell, writer Greg Karber, screenwriter/actress Paula Killen and Write Club founder Stephen Walker, along with surprise guests. The winner gets money for the charity of his/her choice, plus bragging rights for life. But the first rule of Write Club is probably that there is no Write Club — so don't say we told you about it.
