Jeffrey Jones, known for his role as Dean Edward R. Rooney in the 1980s comedy Ferris Bueller's Day Off was charged today with a felony count for not updating his sex offender status, according to NBC News.

Jones, 63, was arrested on June 23 on suspicion of failing to register as a sex offender. He later posted $20,000 bail.

He allegedly failed to register within five days of his Sept. 28 birthday, according to Sandi Gibbons of the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.

In July 2003, he pleaded no contest to a charge of employing a minor with the purpose of taking sexually explicit photos. In addition to registering as a sex offender, Jones was also ordered to serve five years probation and undergo sex offender counseling.

The actor is scheduled to be arraigned on July 14.
