64-Year-Old Man Killed in Pedestrian Accident near Coolidge Street

LONG BEACH, CA (September 16, 2022) – Early Wednesday morning, Fernando Gonzalez was killed in a pedestrian crash on Paramount Boulevard.

The accident occurred around 4:49 a.m., at the intersection of Coolidge Street and Paramount Boulevard on August 31st.

Reports stated that Gonzalez was walking outside of a marked crosswalk when a southbound BMW struck him. Paramedics arrived and located Gonzalez laying on the road unresponsive.

Despite life-saving efforts medical personnel later pronounced 64-year-old Gonzalez, of Long Beach dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, the male driver of the BMW stayed at the scene and cooperated with the authorities. Although, police have not yet released his name or place of residency.

Following preliminary investigations, police did not consider drugs and alcohol to be potential factors. However, an active investigation is still currently ongoing. Long Beach authorities ask anyone with information to reach Detective Kelsey Myers at (562) 570-7355.
