63-Year-Old Man Dead after Being Struck by Impaired Driver on Buckeye Road
PHOENIX, AZ (August 17, 2023) – Early Saturday morning, a multi-vehicle DUI accident killed Fermin Ruiz Gutierrez, police said. On August 12th, at around 3:00 a.m., officers responded to the area of 51st Avenue and Buckeye Road following a DUI incident. According to the Phoenix police, at least three vehicles were involved and two of them were driven by 63-year-old Gutierrez, and the suspect, 28-year-old Alejandro Carrillo. Furthermore, Carrillo struck the vehicle of Gutierrez and slammed into another vehicle that was also stopped at the intersection. Consequently, first responders arrived at the scene and were met with Gutierrez suffering from heavy injuries. Gutierrez eventually died due to the extent of his injuries at the scene. No further information about the fatal crash on 51st Street has been released at this time. Phoenix Officials will release additional information as it becomes available to the public.No words can mend the broken hearts and sorrow felt during this delicate moment.
