0 1Pink is anything but meek. At least that’s the message behind a new platform aimed at female empowerment and networking through performance, partnerships, and music called Gritty in Pink.  Founded by Shira Yevin –the woman behind the popular Shiragirl Stage featuring women rockers on the Vans Warped Tour– G.I.P. has been spreading its message and vibe, highlighting musicians, artists and creators via livestreams in the wake of COVID-19 shutdowns.

But the community is ready to paint the town pink again with its first live event since gatherings were shut down. Happening tonight in the NoHo Arts District it’ll offer live music and a chance to do some good. Charities have always been a big component of thee events and for this one, a portion of proceeds go to the LA LGBT Center. The all-female line-up includes songstresses Cloe Wilder, Jayelle, Dani Hagan, Bodacious Thang, and Taylor Morse, plus hard rockers Alicia Vigil (Vigil of War/Dragonforce) and VK Lynne (The Spider Accomplice), soul singer Beebs (Beebs & Her Moneymakers), Tiktok talent Maya Karli and DJ Mia Fluxxx. Yevin hosts and a house band provides the grooves for original and cover numbers.

Gritty’s “GRL” Instagram Live shows were a source of unity and connection during quarantine and the group plans to keep that element going as well. “It is so surreal to finally be able to return to live shows, over 16 months after our last in-person event,” Yevin shares via press release. “Although we were thrilled to grow globally during the last year of livestreams, we cannot wait to come together with our brilliant collective of female musicians to celebrate the world’s comeback of gatherings, in our own backyard.”

At Pitfire Pizza, 5211 Lankershim Blvd, North Hollywood; Thurs., July 8, 6 p.m. More info on streaming show at @grittyinpinklife and @shira_girl on Instagram and at grittyinpink.co.
