Bicycle Crash on 40th Street Left One Fatality

PHOENIX, AZ (April 11, 2022) – Early Wednesday morning, a female bicyclist died in a vehicle collision on Loop 202, police said.

Around 1:30 a.m., the driver of a vehicle struck a woman on a bicycle on the freeway between 40th and 32nd Street.

Eventually, the bicyclist succumbed to her injuries at the scene, but officers did not disclose her identity at this time.

Meanwhile, crews shut down the freeway for several hours to allow for cleanup and preliminary investigations, but has since reopened.

The factors surrounding and leading up to the crash are still under active investigation.
