Traffic Slowed after Big-Rig Crash on Interstate 17; 1 Killed

PHOENIX, AZ (August 3, 2022) – Early Monday morning, police responded to a semi-truck accident on Interstate 10 that left one victim dead.

The incident happened around 6:15 a.m., near Interstate 17 on July 15th. Dispatchers responded to the scene shortly after receiving multiple calls in the area.

For reasons under investigation, a semi-truck jackknifed on the highway. However, further events leading up to the collision remain unclear.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety arrived and declared the semi-truck driver dead at the scene. They also said that the truck struck an overpass pillar.

Emergency crews closed the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties before it was later reopened.

At this time, the cause of the fatal semi-truck accident on Interstate 10 was not yet determined. ADPS officers are still conducting additional and thorough investigations.
