Male Pedestrian Fatally Struck in Deadly Collision near Waring Road

SAN DIEGO, CA (July 1, 2022) – A pedestrian accident on Interstate 8 claimed the life of one man, Sunday afternoon.

According to the police, the incident occurred around 3:15 p.m., on the westbound lanes of the freeway near Waring Road.

Investigators said a woman driving a white Mercedes-Benz sedan attempted to avoid the man walking on the freeway by applying her brakes. However, another woman driving a white Chevrolet SUV rear-ended the Mercedes causing the Chevy to overturn and hit the male pedestrian.

Eventually, paramedics arrived and transported the man to a nearby hospital where he died from his injuries. Although, his identity has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin.

In addition, the Chevrolet driver sustained minor injuries while the Mercedes driver remained uninjured. At this time, San Diego Officials continue to investigate the Interstate 8 pedestrian crash.
