Tonight at the El Rey, Jay Farrar and Ben Gibbard will be performing music they created for the film One Fast Move and I'm Gone: Kerouac's Big Sur, a documentary based on words Jack Kerouac composed while living in Big Sur.

The film premiered at the Arclight Hollywood on Tuesday night, and will be sold as part of a package with the soundtrack. The pair are better known for their bands: Gibbard, of course, is the voice behind Death Cab for Cutie and the Postal Service; Farrar is the voice and guitar behind Son Volt and Uncle Tupelo. If you go tonight, make sure you snag one of these beautiful woodcut posters, created by our friends at St. Louis's Firecracker Press.

Farrar and Gibbard used as lyrics in the score the words of Jack Kerouac, and performed them earlier in the week at Largo. Tonight will the the last LA performance (which, alas, is sold out, though you can always grab a ticket from a dude out front if you've got the $$).
