When: Sundays, 8 a.m.-2 p.m.

Where: Ventura Place between Laurel Canyon Blvd. and Radford Ave.

What: A big, family-friendly market with more than 70 vendors and a children's area.

Who Sells Here: Among the sellers are numerous produce vendors, including Fresno-based Arnett Farms; Nary Dairy (cashew cheese spreads); Savour the Sauce (vegan sauces and dressings); Pi Bake Shop (sweet and savory pies); Gangadin Indian Cuisine; Entertaining Elephants (children's boutique); and Fisherman's Catch (fresh seafood).

Who Buys Here: The market draws a sizeable crowd, which includes many people who live in Studio City and the wider Valley area. There are also folks who drive over Laurel Canyon and the occasional tourist.

Go To Get: There's produce aplenty as well as nuts, fish and other food items. Non-food booths offer jewelry, flowers, children's clothing and eco-friendly cleaning supplies.

While You're There: Browse. With a friendly fair-like vibe, this isn't a market where you'll want to pop in to grab one quick ingredient. Instead, go when you have time to spend a leisurely Sunday with friends or family. If you're a parent, you'll find lots of things that appeal to your kids – balloons, an inflatable slide, a climbing wall and even a tot-sized ride. And every other Sunday, princess party business “A Day at the Ball” is at the market with “princess attire” and the “princess experience.”

The Studio City Farmers Market has a wide variety of food vendors, too. Produce stands sell apples, berries and various veggies. Citrus is in season, and oranges are abundant.

The 70+ booths line Ventura Place, where many of the shoppers are parents pushing strollers or walking with young kids. Practically a mini-fair, the market has a kids' area as well as kid-friendly booths with children's apparel and balloons.

“There's such a strong community here,”Marlene Bernstein of Savour the Sauce” says. Vendors develop a rapport with customers, many of whom come to the market every week.

Launched in 1998, the market is run by the Studio City Residents Association and the Studio City Chamber of Commerce.
