This month, Pasadena got a new burger joint (The Counter), Hollywood got a gourmet market (The Oaks), Cypress Hill got an organic coffee house (Antigua Cultural Coffee House), Santa Monica saw an oyster bar open on Ocean Ave. (BP Oysterette), Mark Gold's bistro, Eva, opened on Beverly Blvd., Marche (foremerly Max) opened in Sherman Oaks, Mirko Paderno's Oliverio replaced Blue on Blue at the Avalon Beverly Hills, and Syrup Desserts opened downtown.

In the chain world, Lemonade opened up another location at MOCA, Mr. Cecil's California Ribs opened up a third location in Manhattan Beach, and Buffalo Wild Wings opened in Burbank.

As for closings, the beloved Chichen Itza in MacArthur Park shuttered after two years–although you can still find their panuchos and cochinita pibil at their original location, inside Mercado la Paloma on Grand Ave. And Wilson Food and Wine in Culver City closed its doors last Friday after three years.
