The annual Ringo Starr Worldwide Peace and Love Celebration took place on Starr's 77th birthday, July 7, outside Capitol Records in Hollywood. The free event was open to the public and featured performances by Jenny Lewis, Emmanuel Jal, Paul Beaubrun, Don Was, Jim Keltner and MIchael Bearden. There also was a group “Happy Birthday” tribute to The Beatles' drummer sung by friends David Lynch, Joe Walsh, Richard Lewis, Edgar Winter and others, ending with Starr blowing out the candles on a cake. Hundreds of fans joined the celebration as the event was broadcast live to Facebook. Starr encouraged people around the world to share signs of “peace and love” wherever they may be.
