Fanatics! Tonight, a very special show, but aren't they all. Tonight, we will pay tribute to one of our favorite bands, the Ruts. Malcolm Owen, the band's amazing vocalist, passed away on July 14th, 1980 at the age of twenty-six of a heroin overdose.

One of the more frustrating things about the passing of Malcolm, besides the awfulness of it fact was that the band was so good and had only just begun. There were a handful of singles and the iconic album The Crack, almost all the songs of their catalog we have played multiple times over the years. Many of you Fanatics have written to me over the years and told me what a great discovery it was for you to connect with their amazing music.

Tonight, we are going to listen to a lot of Ruts. That's what it's all about. It's not the happiest occasion but it sure is a good excuse to listen to some damn good music.

There's more information on The Ruts on Wikipedia, Discogs, The Quietus and Punk77 if you want to know more.

At this point, I don't think you need me to tell you anything about this amazing band. We have been over and over this story many times over the years. However, if there are any of you who are new to our show, welcome and please search out the Ruts and listen to their music. Tonight could be a good introduction.

I will talking about the band and my interactions with them during the show. The above links will give a ton of information and places to get their records.

Looking forward to being back with you all live on Graveyard Sunday. Grab a shovel, tune in and STAY FANATIC!!!
