RADIO BROADCAST #275

Fanatics! I don’t know if it’s just me but it seems that summer is flying by. Soon, we’ll be in August. Just so you know, we have some great shows planned for that month.

I am in Philadelphia today. The heat is intense. Somehow, on a Thursday, I have a day off. Our schedule has been getting knocked around by the weather.

I hope you have been digging our shows so far in these warmer months. The most important part of this brief bit of writing, is of course, to let you in on all the fantastic music The Big Three have lined up for you. We are the Southern California Sonic Alliance and on the case.

I am going to assume that you are well aware of the amazing series of live recordings released by the Miles Davis estate, the Bootleg Series? SO happening. For our show we have selected a track from Vol. 3. This is pretty mind-blowing stuff. Miles always had great bands as you know. This line up is incredible. If you don’t have this release, I would recommend you fix that!

I think this show hits a great balance of things. We tried to make the best possible mix tape, not too heavy in any direction. I think you are familiar with a lot of the bands and artists we have stacked up for your great enjoyment, which is our primary concern.

Omar Souleyman. Tonight’s track from him is I think my favorite album of his. Fanatic, if you dig his music, whenever you can, get the vinyl. Easy to find and really the way to check him out. Is it true that he will be in Los Angeles in early August? Get ready, get set to get down with it. More information here.

If you have not seen him live, you really need to.

May I bring a few things to your attention? I was on location yesterday and got a test from Engineer X with this incredible news. Of course we have not heard it yet but could this be in the running for one of the GREATEST RECORDS OF THE YEAR?!!!!

That’s right Fanatic, Sunn 0))) collaborating with Scott Walker  I can barely contain my happiness and curiosity. Sunn 0))) always delivers and Walker’s Bish Bosch album from 2012 was incredible. These two formidable forces together?! I CAN’T WAIT!!!

Also, New J Mascis in late August. Tied To A Star is the name of the album. You can hear a song and get tour date info here.

Also, Chain & the Gang have a new record, again with another great title. I just ordered my LP and CD. Will get it on the show asap.

If you want to, you can check out four shows I put together for Double J in Australia as part of their artist in residence program. It’s a show on every Sunday of July. It starts this weekend. Here is the info on how to check it out.

I hope you dig the tunes we have lined for you.

Tame the head and STAY FANATIC!!!
