Fanatics! As some of you know, I have had a radio show in the Los Angeles area for a few years now. I was one of the lucky ones who had a shift at Indie 103 until it went away a couple of years ago.

It was a hard day for all of us at the station when it signed off. I was really missing my once-a-week opportunity to play great music and hang out with the listeners. A few weeks after the demise of Indie, I got a call from one Jason Bentley, host of KCRW FM's Morning Becomes Eclectic show and music director of the station. Much to my great surprise and excitement, he offered me a job. I started soon after, March of 2009. I have been there ever since and it's been nothing but great. Great people, great station.

KCRW is where I learned all I know about doing a radio show from the late great Deirdre O'Donoghue, host of Snap and Breakfast with the Beatles. She would let me come to the station with her and watch her do her show and sometimes let me play some records. I learned a lot from her. To be back in that studio where she used to work is still a hell of a thing for me.

I try to make the show as interesting as I possibly can. Quite often the show is a mix of records from all corners of the record store. As you know, there's good music to be found all over, all the time. Now and then, I will do a concept show, a label, artist, genre, some locality, whatever I think will be a good two hours. I do my best to keep up with all the other music presenters at KCRW. They keep me on my toes, I think we all do that to each other, it's a good thing.

I was talking to Gustavo Turner and Shelley Leopold from the LA Weekly some time ago and talked about the possibility of working together. I gave them a very enthusiastic yes and am looking forward to how all that will manifest itself. One of the things I asked was if I could post my radio play list for my Saturday show on the LA Weekly site. It's what I do every week on KCRW.com and on my own site HenryRollins.com. They thought that would be ok, so here we are.

I always try to get the notes on the sites by late Thursday. I want people to have a chance to see what they're potentially getting themselves into. I guess if you want a surprise, you can not look at the notes. I also figured that if someone was curious about something they heard, they could get the information quickly and easily.

So, Fanatics, as always, the star of the show is the music and this set is a great one. I do a set like this every summer if I can. It's all classic Punk Rock music. Not a bad one in the bunch. Forty bursts of dissonant brilliance. Sounds good to me and hopefully you too.

Perhaps I am just old and nostalgic but this is still some of the greatest music I have ever heard and I am still listening to these bands all these years later. This kind of music hit me like a truck when I was young. I heard The Clash and knew my ship had come in!

Most of the show's tracks are not all that hard to find. There are a few that are somewhat obscure. The Panik and The Buttocks have been re-issued on CD and are probably online for download. The Panik, from Manchester UK are really worth checking out. There's only one EP but there's not a bad track on it. You don't come across the Dregs or the Machines singles all that often. The rest of the stuff is pretty easy to procure.

Next week's show is nothing like tonight's and I hope you check it out. My show is only a small part of the great listening to be had on KCRW on a Saturday night. The Saturday Night line-up is as follows:

Henry Rollins – 6:00 – 8:00

Liza Richardson – 8:00 – 10:00

Mario Cotto – 10:00 – 12:00

Not to be missed!!!

So Fanatics, what is below this sentence is a list of top-shelf genius, unassailable perfection:

I know there's a lot happening in this town on a Saturday night and quite often it's a KCRW-presented get down and you can always go to KCRW.com to see what we're doing but if you get a chance, check out this show and if you miss it, you can catch it on archive at KCRW's site. This show is a great one! Listen loud and STAY FANATIC!!!
