Not to be confused with the MTV teen dreck about two faux lesbians, Ivana Shein’s Faking It is about the hilarity that ensues when a Canadian comedian tries to simultaneously become a fake celebrity while becoming a U.S. citizen – red carpets, paparazzi and TMZ are involved. Originally from Toronto, Shein was a winner on Sketch Troop, Canada’s version of Last Comic Standing, and has appeared in TV and film. Her one-woman show, directed by Richard J. Lewis (of the 2010 movie Barney’s Version starring Paul Giamatti in a Golden Globe-winning role), premiered last year at the Just for Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal and in L.A.
