The bullets didn't hit anyone, and the duo fled. Now the L.A. County Sheriff's Department is on the hunt for these poseurs:
The confrontation with the retired deputy happened about 11:25 p.m. Saturday in the 5700 block of Spice Street, according to sheriff's officials and reports. The suspects kicked in the door but were met by gunfire, the sheriff's department said.
The duo ran, and arriving deputies couldn't find them.
News reports indicated the two announced that they were deputies when they broke in. The sheriff's department says they wore white ski masks.
Detectives believe they're the same two who pulled off an earlier home invasion in Lancaster on Saturday. At about 10:10 p.m. another door kick-in was reported in the 3600 block of West Avenue K-15, according to cops and reports. The victims were a man, 44, and his 10-year-old son, according to Fox 11 News and a sheriff's statement.
After the reportedly fake cops entered, the two ran into a bedroom and the 10-year-old called 911, deputies said.
The bad guys in this case were also wearing white ski masks, cops said. For that reason, suspect descriptions are vague.
