Police were searching for a young man they say met a girl on Facebook and MySpace, kidnapped her, and raper her over the weekend.

KTLA News reports that the man drove to he 14-year-old victim's North Hollywood home Sunday and kidnapped her before raping her.

The girl was rescued by a family friend, but the man escaped. The attack was bad enough to keep the teen in the hospital early this week, according to the station.

Cops seem to know who their suspect is, and they went to his house in South Los Angeles late Monday but came up empty.

The two were said to have been communicating on Facebook and MySpace after meeting online.

The young man was described as being 18- to 21-years old, 5 feet, 6 inches tall, 150 pounds, with a tattoo that reads “Jessica” on his right arm.
