Woman Dead, Several Hurt after DUI Collision on 75th Avenue in Phoenix

PHOENIX, AZ (August 3, 2021) – Saturday night, Fabiola Vargas-Bracamontes died following a multi-vehicle collision on Thomas Road.

The tragic crash took place near 75th Avenue and Thomas Road. Dispatchers arrived to the scene shortly before 9:00 p.m., on July 24.

According to reports, 29-year-old Asheley Alvidrez was driving a tan Chevy Tahoe east on Thomas Road when she rear-ended a white Mazda. The impact pushed the Mazda over the median and into oncoming traffic.

There, the Mazda collided with a silver Toyota Camry and a green Kia Sorento. Fabiola Vargas-Bracamontes, the 43-year-old driver of the Kia, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, medics rushed the Camry and Mazda drivers to a nearby hospital for further treatment of their injuries.

After the crash, Alvidrez failed field sobriety tests and smelled of alcohol, according to authorities. Police charged her with reckless manslaughter, two counts of aggravated assault resulting in serious injury, and reckless endangerment.
